Silly season

It definately is silly season but I must admit that I have been behaving myself this year! Although of course Christmas day was an over indulgence - lots of wine, champagne brekky, chocolate and sherry first thing in the morning and then drinking all day till midnight with friends and family!! It turned out to be a really wonderful Christmas. I felt alot of love come my way this year and I opened my heart to it all. I received a delivery of flowers-lilies of white and pink some of my favourite ones- they were just stunning and it really made my day! I got to spend time with my daughter and that is enough of a gift for me- she had a wonderful time and really just makes the day so much more exciting. I had a nice little lunch with my Mum and I even went to church on Christmas Eve. I spent a good part of the evening with my gorgeous friends and neighbours and it was quite a party!!!

Despite all these wonderful festivities a part of me is still sad for all those people less fortunate out there. I was very lucky that I was surrounded by wonderful friends and family who gave me a helping hand this year! As some people may know things are really tough for me right now and if it wasn't for the generosity and the opening of hearts by some people my daughters Christmas would of been a lot less happy. For those people who helped me this year-you know who you are- thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will be eternally grateful.

So imagine if we all did one good deed for Christmas. Maybe next year we can keep this in mind and if we know of someone- it may be a friend or family member or a randomon the street- whom we can help out a little it might be nice to open your heart and reach out put a smile on someones face and make their Christmas special. I will be doing it next year for sure!!!

I hope everyone had a beautiful day and I hope you are all safe for New Years...see you all NEXT YEAR!!!

The Little Black Dress Empire

Okay girls wether you like to admit it or not secretly, and some openly, we all have a passion for the little black dress. They make us all, regardless of body type,  feel beautiful and therefore it has become an essential item for our wardrobe and the possibilities are endless. But for those of us who have never had the honour of owning a black dress where do we start? You could spend hours scouring every shop within a fifty mile radius of your house or you could instead shop from the comfort of your home- online. A Sunshine Coast entrepeneur, Juliette Knox,  has just launched a website called The Little Black Dress Empire and I really think that this is the perfect place to start. I recently spoke to Jules and asked her why Little Black Dresses were an essential item to every womans wardrobe?

Jules: "Because of its versatility- for example one stylishly cut black dress may cost 150 dollars but you can wear it on several different occassionswith different types of accessories to make a completey different look each time and therefore it is an investment and money very well spent.'

The website itself is fantastic, aesthetically its very appealing and extremely easy to navigate. It features amazing designers from New Zealand, Australia and the UK with an exclusive Little Black Dress Empire only collection by the fashion label Master/slave coming soon. The collections on offer are amazing  and they even have a blogger, Amber Bollard, on the ground in LA catching up with all the red carpet celebrities on what their favourite little black dresses are. My favourite dress on the site is definately the  Nicolangela Adele dress which happens to be on sale right now and I am very tempted to say the least.

So girls, and boys, take a look at this excellent LBD website as I am very sure that you will find that perfect black dress to add to your wardrobe. I want to know what everyones favourite balck dress and designer is from the website. I will be reviewing upcoming designs and collections from The Little Black Dress Empire  in the future so keep and eye out.

Happy Little Black Dress shopping!!!!

Ahhhhh Christmas

Yes folks its that time of year again! Deck the halls! Fallalalalalllllaaaaalaalaaaa! Drink, eat and be merry! What a wonderful time of year. However, I have to ask, why can't Christmas ever be like it is in the movies? Why can't I have a props department that works magically overnight so when I wake the next morning there is a glorious tree adorned and lit with gorgeous flashing lights and a beautiful Angel perched on top whilst beneath the tree lays an abundance of fabulously wrapped, to perfection I might add, Christmas presents. In the background softly plays Christmas Carols supplied by the music department. The costume department has also supplied my family and I with the perfect Christmas day outfits. There is a Christmas Feast with all the trimmings waiting in the kitchen...and the whole family is happy!!!!

Don't get me wrong folks I absolutely LOOOOOVVVEEE Christmas its just that being a woman and a mother I sometimes feel like I just want the day off!!! And this would be where a movie crew, with a reasonable budget, would step in! A woman can dream can't she? So instead i play the props department. This means that will spend hours scouring through old boxes,  cupboards and plastic bags in search of last   years deco's in the hope that they haven't been eaten by bugs or are to outdated. If I have no luck with the old outdated and half eaten ones from previous years then, and with much dread, I am off to face the holiday Christmas shopping, slow walking, trolley ankle crushing, children screaming, ear drum blowing crowd at the local shopping centres. This alone is enough to drive one to the drink- so therefore it is understandable that I will always stop at the Bottle-o on the way home to purchase a bottle of vino to calm my nerves.

I will then become the costume department as well which again means that if I can't find anything simple from last year that can perhaps be changed slighty with say accessories or if the kids have grown into giants over the year then off to the shops again!!!

I will also be a caterer whereby I will sit down and plan a Christmas menu after everyone has shouted at me from different rooms in the house their favourite food requests for the day. Christmas day food shopping would have to be my least favourite thing to do. In Australia we love seafood, particularly prawns, for Chrissy day. Often times this means, unless you buy frozen which isn't quite as nice, that you have to either pre-order your seafood so you don't risk missing out, or brave the crowds of last minute shoppers and get it the day before. Once I have gathered all my ingredients, much hasn't changed for women in thousands of years, I will slave and slave and slave in a hot kitchen baking the perfect ham, making salads and sauces, and baking cakes and berry tarts so I can have a wonderful feast for my beloveds. And again this is where the girls best friend, VINO, will come in and help me prepare the feast!

We are Wonder Woman embodied. We have superhuman strength! And we definately, at the end of it, need a holiday from the holidays!!! Every year I say that I will organise things earlier. Make sure presents are purchased by at least November and that the food is stored away in anticipation. But alas it never seems to happen and I guess perhaps I don't really mind all the challenges because on the day it is worth all the traffic jams and trolley leg smacks and screaming kids to see my families happiness on Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas everyone....love Bree xoxoxoxox
